When the first flight of the Boeing 747 occurred in 1969 the aircraft was the
heaviest, most powerful, and had the largest passenger carrying capability of
any civil airliner ever built. The 747 was the first "widebody" airliner and,
consequently, the first of the "Jumbo Jets." Today, even after the introduction
of many new large passenger aircraft, the 747 maintains it's status as having
the largest passenger and cargo carrying capacity. The latest version of the
747, which this 1/144th scale Revell-Germany kit represents is the 747-400in
which is distinguished from earlier models by the wintip winglets, extended
upper deck, and larger engine nacelles each housing a General Electric CF6-80
high-bypass ration turbofan engine of 60,000lbs thrust. This kit of the
747-400 contains markings for Lufthansa.
Kit features:
Highly detailed 1/144th scale plastic kit for static display
155 parts in white and clear with fine recessed panel lines
GE CF6-80 engine pods with detailed fan fronts and exhaust nozzles
Detailed wheel wells and landing gear
Clear windshield and wingroot landing lights - NOTE: the passenger
cabin windows are punched out of the leaving a hole for each
window. But, no clear parts are included for these windows! There are
therefore three options for dealing with the windows when assembling
the kit: 1/ leave them as is - not very realistic; 2/ fill in the
windows with putty and use aftermarket window decals; 3/ use a liquid
window material such as Micro Krystal Kleer which forms a thin clear
film in the window opening.
There is no interior cabin or cockpit detail.
