NOTES FROM OUR TECH DEPARTMENT

  This is a 1/48 Plastic Ki-46 Hyakushiki Shitei III Kai Airplane from Tamiya.

First flight - Nov. 1939, the Ki-46 III variant went into service in early 1943. The fighter variant incorporated a new stepped nose and dorsal 37mm cannon and was mainly used to intercept raids by B-29's.

FEATURES: Twin radial engine, two seat air defense fighter. Highly detailed 1/48th scale plastic kit for static display. Markings included for 3 Imperial Japanese Army aircraft. Appoximately 90 parts in light grey and clear with fine recessed panel lines. Optional propellers and spinners, detailed Ha-112-II radial engines. Cockpit detail: raised instrument panel detail, control stick, seat, bulkheads, observer's equipment, fuselage ribs and stringers. Wheel wells are boxed in and have structural details. Wing has center section spar to add strength to the assembly. Twin Ha-112-II engines, top speed 390mph at 20,000ft, highly streamlined fuselage, 37mm dorsal cannon elevated at 70 degrees.

MARKING OPTIONS: Single sheet of InvisaClear decals contains aircraft code letters, serial numbers, national insignia, stencils, and cockpit instruments Invisa-Clear decals by Superscale are made using a special process which ensures that a minimum amount of clear film surrounds the coloured part of the decal. Three aircraft: -1: 17th Dokuritsu Hikotai. -2: 16th Dokuritsu Hikotai. -3: 28th Hiko Sentai. All Aircraft- Top Surfaces: IJA Dark Green. Bottom Surfaces: IJA Light Grey. Additional paints Required: Flat Colors: Black, White, Yellow, Green, Brown, Flesh, Aluminum, Sky Grey, Sky, Earth, Metallic Grey, Buff, Olive Green, Red Brown. Gloss Colors: Black, Blue, Red, Chrome Silver.
