This is a 1/72 Fairchild-Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II from Italeri.
Designed by the same company that produced the WWII era P-47 Thunderbolt,
which gained a reputation as an excellent ground attack aircraft, the A-10
is the USAF's premiere close air support aircraft. Also known in service as
the "Warthog", the A-10 proved very effective in the Gulf War where its 30mm
Gatling gun and Maverick missiles proved deadly against Iraqi armour. The
OA-10A is the new designation for Thunderbolts which are used in the forward
air control (FAC) mission directing other aircraft in the target area. Thanks
to its durability, the OA-10 is ideal for this new role.
