NOTES FROM OUR TECH DEPARTMENT

    This is a 1:72 Curtiss P-40E Kittyhawk Plastic Model Aircraft Kit
                              from Airfix.
                     Skill Level 1 for Ages 8 and Up.

The Kittyhawk was first used in the Western Desert as a single seat fighter bomber during WWII. Originating from the earlier Tomahawk, the American Kittyhawk was ordered for the RAF and became operational in the Western Desert in 1942. Powered by a 1150 hp Allison V-1710 engine, she was capable of a speed of 362 mph at 15,000 ft. and a service ceiling of 34,300 feet. The range with drop tank was 650 miles. Armament included 6 x 5-inch machine guns plus provision for 1000 lbs. of bombs.

FEATURES: 33 plastic pieces molded to sprue trees. Body pieces are molded in grey. Clear pieces are included for the canopy. Single cockpit design with included pilot figure. Recessed panel lines give authentic look. Detailed landing gear and drop tank. Waterslide decals. Detailed pictorial instructions.

MARKING OPTIONS: One decal sheet with markings for two aircraft: 1: Curtiss P-40E Kittyhawk, No. 112 Squadron, RAF, Western Desert, North Africa, Mid 1942. Body Colors: -Humbrol Paint Numbers 24, 29, 33, 53, 56, 60, 61, 78, 94, 96, 98, 157, 171. 2: Curtiss P-40E Kittyhawk, No. 77 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force, Livingstone, Australia, Late November 1942. Body Colors: -Humbrol Paint Numbers 24, 29, 33, 34, 53, 56, 61, 78, 89, 96, 98, 149, 170, 171.
