COMMENTS: The instruction sheet for the initial shipments of the ElectriFly
BL-8 Brushless ESC failed to explain how to change the setting of
the brake function in the programming. The following step should be
performed after Step 7C in the Instruction Sheet:
D. BRAKE: To change the brake setting, simply pull the stick
to minimum within five seconds of hearing the programming tones
noted in step C above. This changes the state of the brake setting-
if the brake was ON this will turn it OFF, and vice-versa.
You can determine which setting is active by listening to
the arming tone. One tone indicates the brake is enabled, two tones
indicates disabled. Skip to Step 8 if you do not wish to make any
other programming changes. To CHANGE ANOTHER programmable feature,
disconnect the battery from the ESC and return to Step B above."
ElectriFly's RimFire Motor (GPMG4500) is capable of handling up to
11A of current. This BL-8 ESC puts out a maximum of 8A of current.
When putting a BL-8 ESC and a RimFire Motor into any ElectriFly
FlatOut airplane AND USING THE RECOMMENDED PROP, the motor/ESC
system will not need more than 8A. The motor will not try to draw
more current than the BL-8 ESC can deliver WHEN THE CORRECT SIZE
PROPELLER IS USED. This motor/ESC combo is perfectly matched
to the performance of the FLATOUT SERIES OF PLANES AND
THEIR RECOMMENDED PROP SIZE as well as similar type airplanes.
However, when putting a RimFire in a bigger model which WILL need
more than 8A, the BL-8 ESC will not be powerful enough to deliver
the maximum current the motor will require, and a larger ESC
will be necessary.
